Historical evolution of East Island

1899, Zhanjiang was "leased" by France. At that time, it was called "Guangzhou Bay", and foreign trade was once prosperous.

1943, Guangzhou Bay was occupied by Japanese troops.

1945 After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Guangzhou Bay returned and was named "Zhanjiang" from now on.

1February, 953, with the approval of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, Nansan Island, the ninth district of Wuchuan City was placed under the jurisdiction of Dong Lei County; 1June, 954, Techeng Island in Xiyingqu (now xiashan district) was placed under the jurisdiction of Dong Lei County. At that time, there were only two districts in the suburbs of Zhanjiang: Xinlu (now Huguang) and Chaoman. 1958 September 15, with the approval of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, Dong Lei County was revoked and merged into the jurisdiction of Zhanjiang suburbs, and it was officially co-located on June 10/4.

1992 July 17, Guangdong provincial people's government approved the establishment of "Zhanjiang East Island Economic Development Experimental Zone"; 1992 August 13, Zhanjiang Municipal People's Government decided to set up the preparatory committee for the management committee of Zhanjiang East Island Economic Development Experimental Zone. 1On April 22nd, 1993, Zhanjiang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China approved the establishment of "Zhanjiang East Island Economic Development Experimental Zone Committee", and the Party organizations of East Island and Naozhou Island were under the management of the experimental zone Party Committee. On March 25th, 1993, Zhanjiang Municipal People's Government Office took the lead in organizing the leaders of Civil Affairs Bureau, Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources, East China Sea Experimental Zone and Suburb Government Office, Civil Affairs Bureau, Land and Resources Bureau, Huguang Town, Taiping Town, Min 'an Town and dongshan town to conduct on-the-spot investigation, and jointly determined the administrative boundary between East Island Experimental Zone and Zhanjiang Suburb. 1 In July, 1993, Zhanjiang Municipal People's Government decided that from July,1,the finance of Dongdao Experimental Area should be decoupled from the finance of Zhanjiang suburbs and independent accounting should be implemented. Party, government, finance and other affairs should be managed by the Party Committee and Management Committee of the experimental area. So far, Dongdao Experimental Zone, as the agency of Zhanjiang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, not only undertakes the function of economic development, but also undertakes the social management tasks of dongshan town, Min 'an Town, Dong Jian Town and Zhou Nan Town.

In June 2006, with the approval of the State Council, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Land and Resources and the Ministry of Construction jointly issued the "Reply on Expanding the Planning Scope of Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone" on June 26, agreeing that Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone should expand the planned area of East Island development land 10 square kilometer.

From June 5, 2009 to 10, Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone and Zhanjiang East Island Economic Development Experimental Zone merged into a new Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone.
