Recently, I chatted with several translation friends and found that they strongly rejected the use of CAT tools as before. The main reason is that it is more troublesome to learn. Once something goes wrong in use, the translated content may be lost. Their worries are also justified, but after we really learn to use CAT tools, we can not only prevent these problems, but also greatly improve our translation efficiency and strive for more job opportunities for ourselves.

As far as I know, many companies at home and abroad will make rigid requirements for translation software when recruiting. Sometimes, the translation company may have a huge amount of projects and require translators to participate in the project immediately after passing the trial translation. If you can't skillfully use translation tools at this time, you may miss the opportunity and lose your skills. 1. Terrados

Many translation companies will require translators to use Trados, which has a clear interface and supports multiple file formats. By using terminology and memory, translators can improve their work efficiency and translation accuracy. Trados is most suitable for translating documents with high repetition rate such as technology, engineering and contracts.

At the same time, it can also improve the consistency of terms in the translation of documents with low repetition rate such as subtitles. Some time ago, a Korean drama was popular, with beautiful pictures and attractive plots, but the translation of the starring names was inconsistent. Trados terminology database can help translators avoid such problems.

Now, there are also translation companies that require translators to use Memsource to complete translation tasks. At present, I have only seen two foreign companies require the use of Memsource. The interface of the software is simple and clear, and it can be used online or offline.

PM will provide the server address, user name and password for the interpreter to log in for translation operation. It should be noted that the network speed has a great influence on the online operation of Memsource, which is enough to make people collapse in many cases. At this time, we can install Memsource Editor on the computer, then save the online file as a. mxliff file, translate it, and finally synchronize it.
