Public housing and Home Ownership Scheme flats

Public housing and Home Ownership Scheme are two types of public housing in Hong Kong.

Public housing, that is, public housing, is built by the government or voluntary organizations and leased to low-income residents. Public houses have only the right to live, but no property rights, and children have no inheritance rights. The rent of public houses is relatively low, and the qualifications for applying for public houses are also strictly regulated.

The Home Ownership Scheme is a part of the Home Ownership Scheme. It is built by the government to provide public housing for people whose income is not enough to buy private housing instead of renting public housing. Ownership of HOS flats is incomplete and cannot be resold unless the difference in government rent is paid.

Generally speaking, there are obvious differences between public housing and Home Ownership Scheme housing in terms of rights, rents and housing properties.
