Brief Introduction of School of International Education of Shandong University

School of International Education of Shandong University was established in 1994, and now it has developed from an initial Chinese language training institution for foreign students into a comprehensive education management institution integrating international education for foreign students, personnel training for Chinese international education, the construction of Confucius Institute and the construction of a national Chinese international promotion base. The college has teaching and research institutions such as Chinese teaching department, preparatory department for international students in China, education department, Chinese teaching and research institute, and seven management departments such as college office, enrollment office, degree education office, student affairs office, educational administration office, project management office and property management office. The work office of the Confucius Institute of Shandong University, the China Traditional Culture and Experience Base of Shandong University and the Language and Culture Communication Research Center of Shandong University are affiliated to the Institute. The college has 6 1 faculty, including 38 full-time teachers, of whom more than 50% have doctoral degrees, and most of them have overseas study or work experience. The current dean is Professor Ning.

Shandong University's education for international students in China began in 1950s. It is one of the earliest universities in China to accept foreign students and teach Chinese as a foreign language. It is a pilot institution designated by the Ministry of Education to recruit China government scholarships and China government scholarships for preparatory education. It is an institution that is qualified to recruit medical students (English teaching). In addition, the college has undertaken a number of international education projects, such as the Saudi government scholarship, the Tanzanian government scholarship, the Hanban scholarship and the China Development Bank scholarship. In recent years, Shandong University has explored and practiced the education of international students in China from the aspects of teaching philosophy, training mode and management mode, formed a unique Chinese teaching mode, implemented an influential teaching quality evaluation system, and created cultural experience brand activities such as "International Cultural Festival", "Happy China Stage", "Teaching Practice in East China and Xi 'an" and "Qilu Culture Immersion". Shandong University enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad in terms of international student education system, enrollment scale and level, teaching quality, management and service level, and school-running conditions. Since the merger of schools in 2000, the college has recruited and trained about 12000 foreign students from more than 100 countries.
