The Historical Evolution of nanzenji Street

Nanzenji, with a history of 1450 years, is one of the 480 famous temples in the Southern Dynasties. With a history of 1300 years, the Beijing-Hangzhou ancient canal passes through the city. Nanchang Street, with a long history, has been the most prosperous commercial and handicraft gathering area in southern Wuxi since ancient times, and is the birthplace of modern national industry and commerce in China. Nanchang Street and the ancient canal, one river and one bank, complement each other, forming the unique scenery of Jiangnan water town, which is the most famous historical street in China with Jiangnan characteristics and Wudi style.

Du Qiao Street was built at 1955. 1958 was renamed Red Star Commune, and 1968 was renamed Du Qiao Street. 1996, with an area of 1.2 km2 and a population of 22,000, governs 12 Tandu Bridge, Crossroads, Gengdu Bridge, muxi Hall, Longwen New Village, Zhenxin Road, Qianjiacheng, Houjiacheng, Xinjiacheng, Jiacheng New Village, Song Xiang and Shenxin Road. In 2004, the streets were merged into nanzenji Street and Yinglongqiao Street respectively.
