China Rongtong Group is a vice-ministerial central enterprise. The full name of China Rongtong Group is China Rongtong Asset Management Group Co., Ltd., and China Rongtong Asset Management Group Co., Ltd. is a wholly state-owned commercial company managed by the central government, and SASAC of the State Council performs the responsibilities of investor. Company development process

China Rongtong Asset Management Group Co., Ltd. set up a preparatory group in July, 20 19, with Wen Gang, former chairman of China Ordnance Industry Group, as party secretary and chairman, and Ma, former chairman of China Chengtong, as general manager. The company manages and operates all the operational assets, properties and farms handed over by the People's Liberation Army nationwide, and basically has subsidiaries and branches in various provinces and cities. It is known as the largest central enterprise with assets second only to China Railway Corporation.

On March 3rd, 2020, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) announced that China Rongtong Asset Management Group Co., Ltd. was included in the list of the State Council SASAC's enterprises performing investor duties.
