Economic situation of Wutang town

Wutang Town actively promotes various rural reforms, makes great efforts to adjust the layout of crop planting, attaches importance to the development of "three highs" agriculture and non-public economy, enlivens the processing and circulation of agricultural and sideline products, promotes the sustained, stable and healthy development of rural economy, and promotes all-round social progress. In 2004, the total output value of the town was 8,865,438+10,000 yuan, of which the total output value of agriculture was 66.34 million yuan and the total output value of industry was19.98 million yuan.

The town covers an area of 49 square kilometers, with 36 175 mu of cultivated land, including sloping land 17503 mu, paddy field 18672 mu and woodland 8 150 mu. Leizhou Youth Canal West Canal passes through the town, with a total length of12km. Wutang belongs to the south subtropical monsoon climate zone, with the same season of rain and heat, rich light and temperature and abundant rainfall, which is suitable for planting all kinds of south subtropical crops.

The whole town mainly grows crops such as sugarcane, rice, pepper, banana, peanut, sweet potato, cassava, agastaches, and LYSIMACHIA christinae, among which sugarcane cultivation accounts for 67% of the cultivated land area, which is the pillar industry for farmers to increase their income, followed by vegetables transported to the north. Township industrial enterprises have developed steadily. The main industrial products are starch, patchouli oil, health care drugs, liquor, peanut oil, cement bricks and so on. Patchouli oil products are exported at home and abroad.
