pay attention to

water quality

At present, domestic turtle breeding is mainly based on tap water, and chlorine in tap water is harmful to turtles, which is a major element that causes turtle skin rot and nail rot. It's not the rotten skin and rotten nails, but the soft-shelled turtle's poor constitution and trauma, which is not suitable for water quality. Therefore, the turtles cultured with tap water should be treated first, exposed to the sun, left for a few days, and dechlorinated with chemicals.

My experience: The dried tap water used when the turtle came up from the seedling was suspected to be an injury during the express delivery and inevitably rotted. There are several yellow spots on its tail and neck, but it is delicious and lively, so it is fed twice a day in the morning and evening to speed up cell metabolism, promote growth and enhance physical fitness without drugs and surgery. A week later, the macula fell off, leaving only a faint scar. 10 days later, the turtle was directly connected to tap water, and it grew well without drying, standing and dechlorination. Change the water once every three days and feed the food once every two days.

Sun-drying back

The best time to dry turtles was from 8: 00 to 9: 00 last year, and after 5: 00 pm, this time can avoid direct sunlight. If no one takes care of the tortoise, there should be a shady place in case of accidents. After the turtle comes out of the water, put it in the shade for a few minutes, and then put it in a container filled with water, which can reach the skirt. Leave it in the sun for about half an hour. Don't put it directly into the water after the sun, put it in the shade for a while and then put it back into the water, so as to prevent the temperature difference. When drying turtles, put some water in the basin. This can not only prevent the tortoise from losing water too fast, but also clean the armpits of the tortoise's limbs. Especially for nail fry, putting some water in the basin can also prevent sunburn from drying the tail of nail fry, resulting in tail breakage.

In sunny days, in the morning or afternoon, when direct sunlight is not allowed, put the soft-shelled turtle in a big basin with a diameter of 80 cm and a height of 18 cm. Because direct sunlight is not allowed, the wall of the basin can be shaded. The tortoise likes sunshine and shade, and chooses to put it in the sun for about 30 minutes.

The advantage of shallow water hibernation is that it doesn't take long to clear the intestines. Turtles defecate during hibernation, which can ensure that their bodies are replenished with water and can easily raise their heads and breathe. Cover the sorting box with paper, leave some gaps and put it in the shade. Check every ten days and a half months for white eyes, rotten skin, quacking, lateral floating, full floating and back floating.

Precautions for changing water during hibernation: the key point is to pay attention to the temperature difference. The solution is to put the water in a bucket in the same place as the sorting box for more than half a day, and then change the water, which can solve the temperature difference problem to the greatest extent.

Rotten skin and nails: Absorb the water of the affected area with absorbent paper towels, and apply it repeatedly with cotton swabs dipped in purple liquid, and disinfect the affected area several times to remove sores, rotten skin and nails, and clean the affected area on the surface. The application of liquid medicine is mainly anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, which destroys the growth environment of bacteria. After the liquid medicine is dried, it is put back into water and treated for three days.

The advantage of using purple liquid medicine is that it can quickly act on the focus, diminish inflammation and sterilize. Seeing others using chlortetracycline ointment, the effect is slow, and it has to be applied for more than a week every day. I don't know whether the turtle has good immunity or the ointment has worked. Sweating, iodine will amplify the wound pain without using iodine and hydrogen peroxide, and will not sterilize and penetrate.
