What is remote meter reading?

Remote meter reading is a system for wireless intelligent collection of water, electricity and gas meters in residential areas, which realizes time-of-use electricity price statistics and time-sharing electricity control.

The remote meter reading system aims to realize real-time and reliable remote meter reading of three meters (electricity meter, water meter and gas meter). The device adopts a three-layer network structure of star/vertical line/wireless communication to realize the remote meter reading task. With the development and perfection of domestic intelligent systems, most high-grade residential quarters have installed remote meter reading systems. As an important part of modern management system, the system has played a very important role. Water meter, electricity meter, gas meter and other instruments for each household in residential quarters. Its installation location is different, some electric meters (such as electric meters) are installed centrally, and some (such as water meters) are scattered among households; This will bring difficulties to the meter reading statistics of management departments. It takes a lot of manpower and time to read meter from door to door, so it is difficult to complete meter reading at one time, and sometimes it can only be estimated. The centralized meter reading management system of residential area can realize the meter reading of electric meters, water meters, pure water meters and gas meters in the residential area network, and can automatically copy, collect fees and inquire the status on the residential area management microcomputer, record and print historical data, provide meter data interface, and manually modify, change meters and settle water, electricity and gas meters under authorization. If the corresponding modem or router is added to the management center, external remote access can be realized.

The remote meter reading system mainly completes three tasks: electricity measurement or information collection, information remote transmission, background software processing and analysis. These two technologies are mature, and the key technology of meter reading system is to solve the problem of information remote transmission-communication.
