What does the March 8th Red Flag Bearer mean?

The national March 8th Red Flag Bearer was awarded the honorary title of outstanding working women in China by the China People's Women's Work Organization on March 8th International Women's Day. The object of commendation is typical advanced women who have made outstanding contributions to national construction in various periods, and it is the highest honor for the national special recognition of advanced female figures.

1960, the All-China Women's Federation decided to commend 1000 advanced women individuals and advanced collectives with women as the main members on the occasion of commemorating the 50th anniversary of March 8th International Women's Day, and to issue certificates and flags to the March 8th Red Flag Bearers and the March 8th Red Flag Bearers collectively.

The first outstanding representative of the national March 8th red flag bearer was Dr. Jin Xueshu. During the "Cultural Revolution", the national "March 8th Red Flag Bearer (Collective)" selection and commendation was once suspended. This work was resumed on 1979.
