Classification of animal models

I. Classification by reason:

1. Spontaneous animal model: refers to the diseases of experimental animals under natural conditions without any conscious artificial treatment. Including genetic diseases of mutant lines and tumor disease models of inbred lines.

2. Induced or experimental animal model: refers to the fact that researchers use physical, chemical and biological pathogenic factors to act on animals, causing certain damage to animal tissues, organs or whole body, and causing some functional, metabolic or morphological changes similar to human diseases.

Two. Classification by system scope:

1. Animal model of basic pathological process of diseases: refers to the model of certain pathological changes of the same sex in various diseases. Pathogenic factors act on animals under certain conditions, causing certain pathological damage to animal tissues, organs or the whole body, causing various changes in function, metabolism and formation structure.

2. Animal model of systemic diseases: refers to animal types corresponding to human systemic diseases. Such as cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, digestive system diseases, hematopoietic system diseases, urinary system diseases, reproductive system diseases, endocrine system diseases, nervous system diseases, sports diseases, and animal models of various infectious diseases, parasitic diseases, endemic diseases, vitamin deficiency, physical injury diseases, occupational diseases and chemical toxic diseases.
