Panjin, also known as "Wetland Capital", is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province, an important petroleum and petrochemical industrial base in China approved by the State Council, and one of the important central cities in Liaoning coastal economic belt.

Panjin is located in the south-central part of Liaoning, in the center of Liaohe Delta, at the mouth of Liaohe River, and the terrain gradually inclines from north to south. The whole city governs 1 county 3 districts, with a total area of 4 102.9 square kilometers. According to the data of the seventh census, as of 0: 00 1 1 on June 2020, the permanent population of Panjin City was 138969 1.

Panjin, the headquarters of Liaohe Oilfield, is a "petrochemical new city", built on the edge of oil and prospered by oil. There are abundant mineral resources such as oil, natural gas and well salt underground.

Panjin is also an ecological city with beautiful scenery. The Red Beach Scenic Area, which is dominated by the Red Beach National Scenic Corridor, is a national 5A-level scenic spot and an excellent tourist scenic spot in Liaoning Province. Tianzhuangtai in Panjin was the battlefield of the last Sino-Japanese War, and now it is a patriotic education base.
