Shanghai, referred to as "Shanghai" or "Shen" for short, is the birthplace of the Communist Party of China (CPC), a municipality directly under the Central Government of the People's Republic of China, a national central city, a megacity, a core city of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Ningbo, an international economic, financial, trade, shipping and scientific and technological innovation center, and the first batch of coastal open cities. Dalian, also known as Bincheng, formerly known as Darini and Qingniwa, is a sub-provincial city and a city under separate state planning in Liaoning Province. Located at the southern tip of Liaodong Peninsula in Liaoning Province, on the coast of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, backed by the northeast hinterland of China and across the sea from Shandong Peninsula, it is an important economic, trade, port, industrial and tourist city on the eastern coast of China.

Weihai is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, located at the eastern end of Shandong Peninsula, bordering the Yellow Sea in the north, east and south, Liaodong Peninsula in the north, Korea Peninsula across the sea in the east and Yantai in Shandong Province in the west. The maximum horizontal distance from east to west is 135 km, the maximum vertical distance from north to south is 8 1 km, and the coastline is 985.9 km long. It covers an area of 5,797.74 square kilometers, of which the urban area is 2,606.65 square kilometers, covering Huancui District, Wendeng District, Rongcheng City and Rushan City.
