The Central Academy of Fine Arts is located at No.8 Huajiadi South Street, Chaoyang District, Beijing. It is the only higher art school directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC).

The predecessor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts is the National Beiping Art College, which can be traced back to the National Beiping Art School founded by the famous educator Cai Yuanpei in 19 18, with the famous art educator Zheng Jin as the first principal. This is the first national art education institution in the history of China and the beginning of modern art education in China.

The Central Academy of Fine Arts has three campuses. One is Wangjing Campus: No.8 Huajiadi South Street, Chaoyang District, Beijing; One is Yanjiao Campus:No. Yanshun Road 18, Yanjiao Economic Development Zone, sanhe city, Hebei. The teaching and research area of the Central Academy of Fine Arts covers an area of 495 mu with a total construction area of 247,000 square meters. Among them, Wangjing Campus covers an area of 205 mu, with a building area of 1.44 million square meters; Yanjiao Campus covers an area of 205 mu with a building area of 68,000 square meters.
