Zhongtianmen cableway starts from Fenghuangling on the west side of Zhongtianmen and goes up to Yueguan Peak on the west side of Nantianmen. It was the first and largest passenger aerial ropeway in China at that time. 1995 zhongtianmen ropeway was replaced by carriages, the carriage capacity was expanded to 40+ 1, and the ropeway traffic volume was increased to 320 passengers per hour in one direction.

In 2000, Zhongtianmen ropeway was transformed into a single-line circulating automatic lifting box passenger ropeway, and the whole set of equipment was imported from Austria, which was the most advanced passenger ropeway in China at that time. The ropeway operation is completely controlled by computer, and various parameters of ropeway operation are displayed by LCD touch to realize man-machine dialogue. The ropeway runs at a speed of 6 meters per second, and the one-way running time is 5 minutes and 48 seconds. There are 46 8-passenger trailers on the whole line, with one-way hourly traffic flow 1.630 passengers. In 2003, the fare was one-way 45 yuan/person.
