The People's Procuratorate of Jiangsu Province informed that the dumping of nearly 20,000 tons of garbage in the Yangtze River estuary caused widespread concern. On September 15, the People's Procuratorate of Changshu City prosecuted nine defendants for alleged environmental pollution.

According to the circular, in late April of 20 16, Zhejiang Tongxiang Tianshun Garbage Removal Service Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tianshun Company") won the bid for the domestic garbage treatment business in Haiyan County 1 year, Zhejiang Province through bidding.

From August, 20 16 to February, 20 16, the defendants Ni Bingsong (the person in charge and shareholder of Tianshun Company) and Zhou (the shareholder of Tianshun Company) conspired with other personnel of the company to seek illegal benefits for * * *, and greatly reduced the legal disposal cost while knowing that the defendants Hong and others (handled separately) were not qualified for domestic waste disposal. Among them, 19589.94 tons were directly thrown into Nantong and Taicang sections of the Yangtze River, and 15980.32 tons were transported to Huzhou and Anhui in Zhejiang for illegal landfill, which seriously polluted the environment.

Because Taicang section of the Yangtze River, one of the dumping sites, is located in the upper reaches of two drinking water source protection zones in Taicang, thousands of tons of domestic garbage float on the water surface, which seriously threatens the drinking water safety in the Yangtze River estuary.

On 20 16 12 19, Taicang city launched an emergency plan for sudden major water supply accidents, and two centralized drinking water sources in the city were forced to stop taking water for more than 48 hours and 55 hours respectively. The relevant departments of Taicang Municipal Government and Chongming District Government of Shanghai incurred expenses of 593 1039.58 yuan to prevent the above-mentioned garbage from expanding and eliminate the pollution of the Yangtze River waters.

It was identified that the domestic garbage involved was solid waste containing toxic and harmful substances, and the volatile phenol exceeded the standard by 80 times to 32,200 times. Random dumping and illegal burying of 35,570.26 tons of garbage * * * caused total ecological environment damage of 202 18775.6438+0 yuan.
