Why should Kunming implement the elevator safety liability insurance unified protection project?

According to reports, in order to improve the elevator safety responsibility system, establish the elevator safety restraint mechanism and accident compensation social assistance mechanism, and improve the level of public safety, the Kunming Municipal Bureau of Quality Supervision recently issued the "Kunming Elevator Safety Liability Insurance Unified Protection Project Implementation Plan", and recently officially launched the project in the city.

The report shows that at present, the total number of elevators in Kunming has reached 45,000. At the same time, incidents such as elevator congestion also occur from time to time. Because the responsibility is not clear, after elevator safety accidents, conflicts and disputes often arise because the victims can't get timely compensation and treatment, which has a negative impact on social stability.

In view of the increasingly prominent elevator safety problems, according to the Law on Safety of Special Equipment and the Regulations on Safety Supervision of Special Equipment, Kunming fully draws lessons from the experience of developing elevator liability insurance in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other places, adopts the mode of taking the lead of Kunming elevator industry association and involving Kunming elevator maintenance units, and introduces brokerage companies as third-party insurance intermediaries to help promote the elevator liability insurance work in the city and innovate the establishment of elevator liability insurance system.

After the implementation of the plan, we will fully accept the extensive opinions of relevant experts and representatives of elevator users, maintenance units, elevator manufacturers and inspection units, and take into account the interests of insurance companies, insurance brokers, elevator users, elevator maintenance units, elevator manufacturers and other related units, and finally determine a unified insurance plan.
