Why don't young people nowadays want to work in factories?

After the Spring Festival, the urban "labor shortage" is serious. Why don't young people want to work?

It's been 10 days since the Spring Festival, and there is indeed a "labor shortage" in some big cities, especially the shortage of employees in posts such as Lunar New Year, housekeeping and odd jobs. So what is the reason? Are farmers unwilling to work? Let me talk about my personal views, mainly for four reasons:

First, the consumption in big cities is relatively high, but the wages of migrant workers have basically not increased in recent years, and some have declined. If there is no food and shelter, and there are 3,000 or 4,000 yuan a month, there will be little left except rent and food, and it is difficult for migrant workers to make a living. They can only choose to leave some low-cost cities to work, or return to the countryside to start their own businesses or farm.

Second, the older generation of migrant workers don't want their children to follow their old ways of working. There is a saying in the countryside that "working, working, empty-handed". Although it is serious, it also shows that they can't save too much money while working hard. As parents, they don't want their children to work. They try their best to let their children go to college, join the army, or learn skills to start their own businesses, and fewer and fewer people work.

Third, the aging of rural population is becoming more and more serious. With the change of population structure, there are more and more middle-aged and elderly people in rural areas. According to a population survey report, it is estimated that by 2020, the elderly population over 60 will exceed 20%, and the rural population will exceed the urban elderly population by 5 percentage points. It is understood that it is more difficult for farmers over the age of 45 to go out to find jobs and are unwilling to hire them.

Fourth, I don't want to go because of the Spring Festival. Generally, they go out to work after the fifth day of the first month, and most of them go out on the fifteenth day of the first month. Some people go to work for a year, and can only come back to reunite with their families for a few days during the Spring Festival, and they are reluctant to leave, especially when there are elderly people at home, or when the husband and wife go out to work, sometimes they will be one day late.

Generally speaking, there are many reasons for the "labor shortage" in cities after 2008, and it will be alleviated after the Tenth Five-Year Plan. At the same time, it is not easy for farmers to go out to work. Everything is fine at home, but it is difficult to go out.
