The construction of roads, bridges and tunnels along Zengcheng section has basically entered the final stage, and it is expected that the whole line will be completed and opened to traffic by the end of this year.

Recently, the reporter saw along the second phase of the North Third Ring Expressway under construction that the subgrade and bridge projects of each bid section have been basically connected, and the prototype of the expressway has begun to appear. According to the relevant person in charge of Zengcheng Transportation Bureau, the construction of roads, bridges and tunnels along Zengcheng section of the second phase of North Third Ring Expressway has basically entered the final stage. The next step will be to coordinate and promote the remaining work of the second phase of the North Third Ring Expressway. On the premise of quality and safety, speed up the construction of pavement engineering, traffic engineering and greening engineering along the line to ensure that the second phase of the North Third Ring Expressway will be completed and opened to traffic by the end of this year.

It is understood that the second phase of the North Third Ring Expressway is a key transportation construction project in provinces and cities with a total investment of about 6.55 billion yuan. The expressway connects Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and Airport Expressway in the west and the Pearl River Delta Ring Expressway in the east. Passing through Zengcheng District, Conghua District, Baiyun District and Huadu District, it starts at the junction of Licheng Street and Shitan Town in Zengcheng District and ends at Huadong Town in Huadu District. The second phase of the North Third Ring Expressway is 44.435 kilometers long, including Zengcheng section, which is about 29 kilometers long. It passes through Shitan Town, Licheng Street, zhu cun Street and Zhongxin Town, and there are four interchanges (entrances and exits) in Licheng, zhu cun, Education City and Zhongxin.

The entire line of North Third Ring Expressway is built according to the standard of two-way six-lane expressway, with a design speed of 100 km per hour. After the completion of the second phase of the North Third Ring Expressway, it will connect Guanghui Expressway, Daguang Expressway and several national and provincial trunk highways, and become a "golden corridor" to promote the economic and social development of the Pearl River Delta. At the same time, it will also add an important link to the construction of an efficient and convenient transportation system extending in all directions in Zengcheng District, which is conducive to further improving the urban transportation structure of Zengcheng District and speeding up the half-hour commute between Zengcheng District and Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen.
