Yuechuan prose
Speaking of Yuechuan, I think of Yuechuan's carambola and the oft-said mantra "Three catties of carambola for two catties of ground seeds (ground seeds: a fish name called by local people)".
In the past, Yuechuan village was very poor, and many people made a living by picking carambola, which almost became the main cash crop in this village. There are many carambolas in Yuechuan village, some are sweet and some are sour. Behind the village, inside and outside the house, carambola is everywhere. The carambola trees here grow well, with thick branches, green crowns and shiny leaves. The carambola tree is like a natural umbrella, covered with fruits full of water. There are more carambola than sweet carambola in this village. Carambola is plump, moist and crisp, which is the best seasoning for pickling sweet and sour or cooking fish soup. Not only people in Sanya can't live without it, but fishermen who come to Sanya to fish also like the carambola in Yuechuan best.
Early in the morning, the fishing boat came back from the sea, and there was a crisp cry from the seaside: "Buy carambola! Buy carambola! Three pounds of carambola for two pounds of land! " For several months, Sichuan Niang carried the carambola burden and followed the morning light to the seaside market. Their arrival added color to the "fish market" by the sea. Some peddle at the scene, some carry carambola for fish and shuttle back and forth. They are the most active people in the fish market. The carambola that can't be sold out in the seaside market goes to the market to sell, leaving early and returning late. Yuechuan Niang is used to going out early and returning late for her family. The story of "three catties of carambola for two catties of land" is interpreted by these hardworking Yuechuan women. Very sour, very strong, very honest, very dull.
When Sanya River separates Sanya Town from Yuechuan Village, Fiona Fang is surrounded by mountains, water, wetlands and salt fields for more than ten miles. It's not easy for Yuechuan people to go out. Waterway is their shortcut, and one or two "wooden boats" (sampans) are their means of transportation. The "boat" has no engine and can take seven or eight people by hand. After the cruise, a person has to pay the boatman five cents. When I went to Yuechuan, I took these boats. Uncle Yuechuan, who paddled, told us a story that happened in the Republic of China: Yuechuan used to be called Xiacun Garden, with fields, salt pans, gun towers, lush trees, carambolas, sour beans, longan, coconuts, rafters and mangoes, and the whole village was lush. Lin is a big family in this village. Lin Shichuan is an outstanding figure in Yuechuan Village, in charge of the salt industry in Sanya and the rice fields in Fiona Fang for dozens of miles ... but the carambola in Yuechuan is the one with the deepest memory.
At that time, we went to Yuechuan to eat carambola. The carambola in my classmate's house is very big, and the trees are covered with fruits. Ripe carambola is golden yellow. One by one, the carambola was connected to the branches by tiny red stems, and the stems of the trees shook hard. Carambola fell like rain, scattered all over the floor, picked it up and ate it. It was very enjoyable. The students said that the delicious carambola should be buried under the roots with dead cats and watered with fishy water and rice washing water, so that the grown carambola is sweet and crisp. What is the reason? I still don't know. Anyway, his carambola tastes good. After eating carambola, we went to pick sour beans and cut rafters. Yuechuan left my young footprints. ...
A friend of Chuanchuan told me about his painful experience. 1984, he married a woman from a foreign village and asked for a bride price to propose according to local customs. However, his family is poor, with no money and nothing. In desperation, his good friend "fought for him" once. At three o'clock in the morning that night, I "borrowed" a few bunches of bananas from someone else's banana field and went to the woman's house to propose. After marriage, I took my wife to raise fish and crabs by the Sanya River. The wooden house where I live was built by my friend, and the pond was dug by my friend. Both fry and crab fry were caught by brothers. He sometimes does odd jobs in the ash burning factory, earning river sand and selling money to support his family. His life is very simple and poor. Speaking of this experience, he often can't help feeling: "It's hard to be poor!" Perhaps, he is a microcosm of the Yuechuan people in the past.
In the late 1980s, an event that shocked the whole country happened in Yuechuan, and hundreds of graves were added overnight. The front page of Hainan Daily reported this incident. Because of land expropriation, Yuechuan people directed a farce of "hundreds of people died" and became famous overnight, with the aim of increasing compensation. At that time, it was absurd and unreasonable. Now it seems that Yuechuan people are "smart". Land is the lifeblood of farmers and the support of Yuechuan people. They have depended on this land for generations, and they can't give up this interdependent land. There are lush and fruitful carambola on the ground. Can they not call? ! Developers can sell land money in Gai Lou, pave roads and make money. They build more "graves", but they are helpless to make this unlucky money. It seems ridiculous to others, but it is realistic to Yuechuan people. Because of unfairness and poverty, Yuechuan people want to "die and live" and fight for survival and interests. I think it's understandable.
With the construction of Sanya prefecture-level city, the development of economy and the development of real estate industry, the land in Yuechuan is becoming more and more valuable, and Yuechuan people have also made a fortune by speculating land, transporting earthwork and engaging in real estate. Many farmers in Yuechuan have also become rich due to compensation for land acquisition and demolition. Now Yuechuan people drive cars and live in tall buildings. Every year, four or five children in the village are admitted to the university, and their lives are full of flavor and prosperity. However, the carambola trees in Yuechuan are gone, and so are the acid carambola trees in Yuechuan. People in Yuechuan have to buy carambola elsewhere. Why not reasonably keep some carambola trees? That is the history and memory of Yuechuan.
Walking in the present Yuechuan village, the cement roads are littered, and the houses occupy the roads, which are uneven. Instead of the carambola tree, there are scattered high-rise buildings, which are depressed and sad. I can't find the glory of Yuechuan and Yuechuan, and I can't find the leafy carambola and sparkling carambola.
Maybe the future Yuechuan is the center of Sanya. After planning and development, Yuechuan will be beautiful.
Yuechuan will change, Sanya will change, and I think it will be more and more harmonious and gorgeous.
