As a result of the story, in the end, the first two workers were ordinary bricklayers, and the third worker became a great architect. Through this story, people just want to satirize that the first two kinds of people have no ambition, so they have accomplished nothing. Praise the third kind of people for their lofty ideals, so they can achieve great things. But I have another view of this story: the world needs not only good bricklayers but also good architects. There are great architects and great bricklayers in this world. Great work needs people to do, and ordinary work needs people to do. It's hard to imagine how those beautiful tall buildings were built if there were architects and no bricklayers in this world.
