Social workers can engage in the service and management of social work in civil affairs, women's federations, the Communist Youth League, trade unions, health, justice, education and other systems and urban and rural community organizations, social organizations and social service institutions.

With the rapid development of China's economy and society, many social problems have also increased. It can be said that social workers involve a wide range, such as people engaged in patient psychological counseling in hospitals and people in judicial institutions who handle and mediate family disputes.

According to the development trend of "big market, small government" and referring to the "government purchasing services" policy being implemented in Shanghai (the government invites tenders to help community corrections personnel, drug addicts and problem teenagers return to society, etc.), the above social work will eventually be separated from law enforcement systems such as civil affairs, justice and health, which will provide a lot of social work opportunities.
