MTR's in-station business and railway-related business

At present, apart from operating railways, the MTR Corporation is also engaged in diversified businesses, and through railway business and professional technology, it has expanded into other business areas, including station retail store leasing (including duty-free shops), train and station advertisements, telecommunications networks, railway-related consulting services and freight services. In terms of property development business, MTR provides services such as MTR property agency, MTR Octopus control system and building environmental sanitation. MTR has stepped onto the international stage, constantly expanding railway-related projects and consulting services in the Mainland and internationally. By the end of 2008, the then MTR Corporation had provided consultancy services on railway alignment and signaling systems for railway projects in China, Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Europe. These include the high-speed rail in Taiwan Province and the Kaohsiung MRT.
