In addition, many "Nanyang-style buildings" mixed with European colonial architecture and Lingnan arcade architecture at the end of 19 and the beginning of the 20th century have been preserved in this area, which are the products of the "Nanyang" culture mixed with Europe and Asia ... All these preserved buildings are very worthy of tourists' careful taste. Besides appreciating the architectural features, they can also learn the hidden stories behind the buildings, which is very interesting.

When Shanshan was wandering in the alley of Chikan Old Street, she came to the intersection of minzu road and Datong Road and saw a building full of foreign flavor. The lintel of the gate reads "Zhanjiang Antique City". Naturally, I walked towards the building and approached it. I accidentally found a sign hanging at the door, which read: Zhanjiang city name and address, Xu Aizhou's former residence. This brand gives Shanshan three girls a feeling of finding treasure, but fortunately they didn't miss it! Behind the sign, there is an introduction of this building: Xu Aizhou's former residence was built in 193 1, with east-west direction, three-story flat roof and a brick-concrete structure combining Chinese and western styles. Width 19.5m, depth 3 1.7m, area 6 18. 15m, with a total construction area of 3500m2.

Who's Xu Aizhou? Maybe many people can't react at once! Xu Aizhou has a very famous grandson. He is Xu Jinheng, the husband of former Miss Hong Kong champion Michelle monique Rice. Through this relationship, we must think that Xu Aizhou is the "first generation king of ships in Hong Kong" and Zhanjiang is his hometown. How did Xu Aizhou build this building? The former residence of Xu Aizhou is said to have been designed by foreign designers invited by Xu Aizhou in those years, and it is a large-scale building in the period of "Guangzhou Bay". First of all, two red terrazzo Corinthian columns stand on the left and right of the arc gate. The whole building takes the gate as the center line and bends to the left and right sides.

Secondly, the decoration of the building facade is simple, but full of changes. The windows on the first and second floors facing the street are unified into rectangles, and the gray lines of the window frames are elegant.

Moreover, the flower railing parapet on the roof is simple and generous, and the gable on the roof of the east gate of the building is decorated with three flagpoles.

Finally, in the middle part of the building, referring to the patio design method of Lingnan traditional houses, a small patio is set up for ventilation and lighting, with four stairs and passages winding through more than 30 halls. Stair handrails are green terrazzo, and iron flower railings with arc patterns are exquisite and noble.

After visiting Xu Aizhou's former residence, Shanshan went to the nearby "Guangzhou Bay Museum of History and Folklore". By communicating with the administrators here, she got a deeper understanding of Xu Aizhou and some stories that happened in Zhanjiang. Xu Aizhou was born in Zhanjiang, Guangdong in 188 1, a poor boy who only graduated from primary school. It can be said that he has no education since childhood. The child of the poor family was in charge early. When he was young, he followed his father around and founded the "Futai" firm, dealing in peanut oil and other grain and oil groceries. Later, Xu Aizhou successively opened shop numbers such as Renhe, Guanghongtai and Tianyuan in Wuchuan, Chikan, Xiashan and Tanzhou. In Hongkong, Hong Guang was established to import foreign commodities, including peanut oil, kerosene and aquatic products. With the first bucket of gold earned, I began to set foot in the real estate industry. At that time, Xu Aizhou also made a "biggest move", that is, it won the bid for the reclamation rights around Chikan Zhu Min Road, Quan Min Road and Minsheng Road, and built more than 40 shops and residential buildings on the newly filled land, the largest of which was "Xu Aizhou's former residence".

The third girl came to the scene this time. The "Former Residence of Xu Aizhou" she saw was rented as "Zhanjiang Antique Cultural City". But time is moving forward. The building of "Xu Aizhou's Former Residence" was once the seat of Zhanjiang Branch of China Bank of Kuomintang regime. In the early days of the People's Republic of China, it was sponsored by Zhanjiang Municipal Government. 1962, Zhanjiang municipal government returned Xu Aizhou's former residence and other properties to Xu Aizhou. After the death of 1966, his family solemnly declared that the rent collected by the Xu family in "Xu Aizhou Property" in Zhanjiang City was used for public welfare undertakings in Zhanjiang City except for deducting various expenses.

Xu Aizhou changed from a farmer's son to the first generation of port ship king. He was born in troubled times when the country was at home and abroad and was bullied by foreign powers.
