What kinds of desulfurization methods are there for coal?

The desulfurization methods of coal can be mainly divided into the following categories:

Desulfurization of flue gas after combustion: This is a common method, which absorbs sulfur dioxide in flue gas by adding desulfurizer, such as lime and soda ash. This method is mainly suitable for large coal-fired power plants.

Biological desulfurization: using the metabolism of bacteria and other microorganisms to convert sulfur dioxide in flue gas into sulfate, so as to achieve the purpose of desulfurization. The method has the advantages of environmental protection, economy and low energy consumption.

Activated carbon adsorption desulfurization: desulfurization is realized by adsorbing sulfur dioxide in flue gas by using the adsorption performance of activated carbon. This method is suitable for small coal-fired boilers.

Wet desulfurization: desulfurizers such as calcium oxide and sodium hydroxide are sprayed into the flue gas to react with sulfur dioxide to generate substances such as calcium sulfate or sodium sulfate to achieve desulfurization. This method is suitable for small coal-fired boilers.
