Is it harmful to your health to work in a printing and dyeing factory?
Printing and dyeing is also called dyeing and finishing. It is a processing method, and it is also the general name of pretreatment, dyeing, printing, finishing and washing. The dyeing and finishing major of undergraduate course has been merged into the major of light chemical industry; As early as the Neolithic Age six or seven thousand years ago, our ancestors could already dye linen with hematite powder. Primitive tribes living in Nuomuhong area of Qaidam basin in Qinghai can dye wool into yellow, red, brown and blue, and weave colored striped woolen cloth.
The following are some national regulations on dyes:
Since 1, China has implemented three new safety technical standards since 2005.
Category I: Baby GB 1840 1_2003 A.
Category II: direct contact with skin category GB 1840 1_2003 B.
Category III: Category GB 1840 1_2003 C without direct contact with skin.
Methanol content: coat ≤300mg/kg close-fitting clothes ≤75mg/kg.
There are four main aspects that affect human safety and health when textiles and clothing are worn or used: First, free formaldehyde on fabrics can cause headache, weakness, body temperature change, sensory disturbance, irregular perspiration, rapid pulse, dermatitis and skin allergy. Second, some aromatic amine intermediates left by azo dyes in the process of printing and dyeing synthesis have carcinogenic effects on human body. Thirdly, the heavy metals that may remain in textiles are mercury, nickel, chromium, lead and arsenic. These heavy metals mainly come from dyes, catalysts and accessories such as buttons and zippers in the printing and dyeing process. If the content of heavy metals in clothes is too high, it will not only weaken people's immune function and induce cancer, but also cause chronic poisoning and harm people's central nervous system. Fourthly, it is a preservative, which can be used for the storage and transportation of cotton fibers and wool, and can also be used as a thickener for printing paste. Its toxicity can cause cancer, and the wastewater discharged from washing fabrics with pentachlorophenol will pollute the environment.
The new standard not only stipulates the limit requirements of formaldehyde content in textiles, but also stipulates the prohibition of using ammonia dyes, pH value, color fastness and odor. For the first time, the textile toxicity test is included in the product testing standard, and it is clearly stipulated that clothing and textile fabrics should not contain toxic substances that cause human diseases and canceration.
