Lianshui County belongs to the alluvial plain of the Yellow River, with high terrain in the southwest and low terrain in the northeast. From southwest to northeast, the landform is divided into high beach along the river, plain slope and lake depression. Controlled by neotectonic movement, Lianshui County has deposited a large number of fluvial and lacustrine facies and land-sea interaction clastic sediments on the basement of Mesozoic and Cenozoic persistent depression. In the later period, affected by the yellow flood, the surface was generally covered with a layer of slightly alkaline alluvial yellow silt and loam with a thickness of 1-5m, which constituted a typical plain landform type.

Long-term siltation and yellow flooding impact silting pads, resulting in high terrain in the southwest and low terrain in the northeast. Among them, the beach of the ancient Huaihe River levee flowing through the southern and eastern edges of the county town is the highest, and the real height is generally between 10 ~ 15 meters. The highest point is near taniguchi, with a maximum of 20.7m, which is15-18m higher than the plain outside the dike.

The plain outside the dike gradually decreases from southwest to northeast, and decreases to about 10 meter in Shihu.
