Industrial Engineering (IE) originated in the United States, and was put forward by Taylor, an engineer of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) at the end of 19. In the process of development, industrial engineering combined with modern scientific and technological achievements, constantly improved, quickly spread to industrialized countries, and gradually adopted by some developing countries. China's industrial engineering started late and can be traced back to the Department of Industrial Management Engineering, School of Engineering, Jiulongpo Jiaotong University, Chongqing in the 1940s. After years of development, the main contents of industrial engineering research in China are: work research, facility planning and design, production planning and control, engineering economy, value engineering, quality management and reliability, human factors engineering, organizational behavior, management information system and modern manufacturing system.
However, at present, the development of industrial engineering in China is still in the stage of understanding, and there are many disadvantages in its application, and education management is also in the stage of development. Many enterprises, especially large and medium-sized state-owned enterprises, have many problems in production organization and management, and are in urgent need of competent industrial engineers, and the demand for industrial engineering talents continues to be strong.
Second, the questionnaire design and analysis
(A) the design of questionnaires and the determination of survey samples
This survey is a survey of the learning situation of industrial engineering students and the employment situation of graduates in colleges and universities in Henan Province, mainly using the method of sampling survey. Firstly, students majoring in industrial engineering are selected as the research object, and data are collected through questionnaire survey. Secondly, the overall employment situation of industrial engineering students in Henan Province was investigated by sampling, and data were collected through questionnaire survey. Finally, the relevant knowledge of statistics is used to analyze the data, summarizing and analyzing the problems existing in students' teaching and the characteristics of graduates' employment.
Through field investigation, it is found that there are nine universities in Henan Province with industrial engineering majors, namely Zhengzhou University, North China University of Water Resources and Hydropower, Henan University of Science and Technology (Luoyang), Henan University of Technology (Jiaozuo), Henan Agricultural University, Henan University of Technology, Zhongyuan Institute of Technology, Henan Polytechnic University and Zhengzhou Institute of Aviation Management. The data of this survey mainly comes from the above institutions.
(2) Questionnaire survey and analysis.
This survey adopts the method of random sampling, and distributes questionnaires to students and graduates respectively, and asks them to fill in carefully. This survey * * * collected 93 student questionnaires/kloc-0, and 66 graduate questionnaires. The following is an analysis of the survey results:
1. The investigation on the reasons why students choose to study this major shows that 6 1.66% of students change their major, and only 7.77% really love this major, which shows that not all students in this major like their chosen major.
2. In the process of studying industrial engineering, the study of professional knowledge and skills and internship experience are of great help to students of this major. Computer office software is widely used in graduate students, even exceeding some learning software of this major. Therefore, students of this major should strengthen the study of computer technology.
3. Students of this major should cultivate awareness of cost and efficiency, awareness of finding and improving problems and overall situation in their lives, improve their hands-on ability, communication and coordination ability, teamwork ability and adaptability of professional knowledge, and also have awareness of innovation and optimization.
4. The satisfaction survey of industrial engineering specialty is shown in the figure on the right 1. Most students majoring in industrial engineering are generally satisfied with their major, which reflects that the school should optimize the design of educational model for industrial engineering.
5. The investigation of the shortcomings of education mainly includes: the scope of the course is too large, the content can not be deepened, and it can only be tasted in the learning process; The curriculum is not reasonable enough, sometimes there are many classes and sometimes there are few classes, and there are also many important professional courses during the senior year's job search; There are few practical links, the laboratory does not play a good role, and the effect of combining theory with practice is not obvious.
6. Many graduates of this major think that management, basic industrial engineering, production planning and control, operational research, statistics, social practice and holiday graduation practice are of great help to their future work. Professional practice, metalworking practice and professional course design can help students apply theoretical knowledge and strengthen their understanding and consolidation of knowledge.
7. Less than 3/4 graduates think that industrial engineering is not easy to find a job. These students pay more attention to the salary and benefits of their jobs and less attention to the working environment and development potential. In the selected 66 samples, the survey of graduates' employment direction is as follows: most graduates chose the direction of production planning and control in manufacturing (28, accounting for 42.42%), followed by the direction of quality management (18, accounting for 27.27%) and the direction of industrial engineering and human factors engineering (14, accounting for 2/kloc-0).
Third, the problem and reason analysis
Through the investigation and study of industrial engineering students and graduates, many problems can be found. According to different problems, we analyze them separately, so as to find the solutions to the problems and put forward corresponding countermeasures.
(1) Students in this major blindly choose to obtain certificates, and will follow suit according to what certificates others have obtained.
(2) The most important thing for students majoring in this major is to establish practical ability, followed by mastering professional knowledge.
(3) Students in this major neglect computer technology in terms of skills they need to master.
(D) Students hold a general attitude towards the satisfaction survey of industrial engineering specialty in our school.
(5) The investigation of specialized courses shows that specialized courses have great application in graduates' work, but students' professional knowledge is not solid enough.
(six) the number of professional laboratories is small, and the laboratory has not played a great role.
(7) Most students find it difficult to find a job in this major.
(8) Graduates of this major have a narrow employment direction, and most of them choose manufacturing.
Students and graduates have a good attitude towards the future development of industrial engineering. Reason: Industrial engineering started late in China, and the research and development was slow, and no great achievements were made. Students have no reference when applying professional knowledge to solve practical problems.
Fourth, put forward suggestions for improvement.
Based on the above investigation and analysis, our investigation team put forward relevant suggestions to students, teachers and schools through questionnaires, group discussions, in-depth interviews and copywriting surveys, hoping to provide more reference for everyone. (A) Suggestions for students majoring in industrial engineering
1. Students in this major should fully understand the teaching plan, professional characteristics and future employment direction of this major, correct their learning attitude, earnestly study professional knowledge and necessary computer software skills, broaden their knowledge, cover a wide range, set learning objectives, avoid blind learning, pay attention to the combination of theory and practice, and establish a model of solving practical problems with professional knowledge.
2. During school, while learning professional knowledge, we should pay attention to the improvement of personal ability. Participate in campus activities to improve their adaptability, communication and coordination, teamwork and self-confidence; Exercise eloquence and learn to treat people; Seriously participate in social practice and graduation practice, accumulate practical experience, and improve the ability to adapt to the social workplace.
3. Adjust the employment mentality and position yourself reasonably. Most of the jobs provided by enterprises start at the grassroots level. Graduates should adjust their mentality, objectively evaluate themselves, accumulate experience in future work and improve their ability in order to get better salary and working environment. Most graduates of this major are engaged in manufacturing, and can also be extended to logistics and service industries.
(B) Suggestions for industrial engineering teachers
Teachers majoring in industrial engineering should guide students to define their major, know how to spend college time, know what knowledge is widely used in future work, and encourage students to participate in social practice activities. We should pay attention to the education of combining students' theory with practice, apply professional knowledge to real life, arrange reasonable curriculum design to consolidate learning content, care about students' learning mentality, cultivate students' self-confidence, give more employment information and guidance, arrange students to meet and exchange with previous graduates of this major, and obtain more information about this major.
(3) Suggestions for school reform
1. Schools should improve the curriculum and attach importance to professional education; Actively build a high-quality general education curriculum system and train a group of excellent general education teachers; Further strengthen the organic combination of general education and professional education, theoretical teaching and practical teaching, classroom education and social education. At the same time, organize colorful campus activities, pay attention to the cultivation of college students' learning and practical ability, let students participate in practical teaching activities, cultivate students' ability to find and solve problems, establish lifelong learning consciousness, increase teaching experimental equipment, and cultivate students' ability to apply what they have learned.
2. Schools should deepen the teaching of specialized courses. For some public elective courses, the class hours can be compressed, and for professional courses, the class hours can be increased. Adjust the four-year teaching structure of undergraduate course. The fourth academic year is the time for graduates to find jobs, and the school should give them time support. It is best not to arrange too many specialized courses during this period.
3 schools should actively hold employment guidance for graduates, take the initiative to contact major enrollment enterprises, and provide more employment guidance services such as professional psychology and skills counseling, job market demand information, and various job fairs.
