There is also the issue of your children’s education. If you own a house, your children will not be able to go to a good school in Beijing, nor will they be able to take the college entrance examination in Beijing. You have to return to the city where your registered permanent residence is to take the exam. And there are so many universities in Beijing, and many universities have much lower admission scores for local schools than other provinces and cities. Therefore, it is easy for local people in Beijing to get admitted to a school in Beijing.

There is also the issue of children’s household registration. Parents with Beijing household registration can apply for household registration for their newborn children, and if conditions are met, they can apply for children, parents, and couples to move in and help relatives settle down. The Beijing work and residence permit can apply for a work and residence permit with equal treatment for your spouse and children, but it cannot help your relatives settle down. Theoretically, if you hold a Beijing work and residence permit for three years, you can apply for settlement, but the conditions are very stringent and it is difficult to successfully apply.

All of these are related to future generations. If you work hard in Beijing and do not plan to buy a house in Beijing, get married and have children in the future, in fact, Beijing household registration is not that important.
