It was learned from the Seismological Bureau of Qinghai Province that the earthquake was located in Hoh Xil Nature Reserve, a no-man's land. The epicenter was about 76 kilometers away from Tanggula Mountain Town in Golmud City, 49 kilometers away from Yanshiping Town 166 kilometers away from Suojia Township in Yushu Prefecture, and 322 kilometers away from Zhiduo County.

The people's government of Zhiduo County said that there was no earthquake in the county and no news of casualties or property losses has been received. According to the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Company, Jiangkedong Station and Riaqiqu Station, about 55 kilometers away from the epicenter, were not affected by the earthquake. Qinghai-Tibet Railway Company is organizing personnel to inspect the line and give feedback at any time.

After the earthquake, the Seismological Bureau of Qinghai Province launched a four-level earthquake emergency response, and emergency personnel quickly arrived at their posts and held an earthquake consultation. Emergency personnel from Yushu Seismological Bureau and Haixi Seismological Bureau are rushing to the earthquake-stricken area.
