On the eve of the release of MG ONE, we were invited to the SAIC-GM Guangde test track for the first dynamic test drive experience of MG ONE, a highly anticipated new SUV. This time we are experiencing the new car in a closed test field environment, without a road test drive. Therefore, we can only accurately convey and report on the performance of the new powertrain at a performance level, including the three dimensions of full-length acceleration capability, braking effect and chassis feel. ·How does this powertrain drive? This time, we conducted a relatively comprehensive dynamic experience at the Guangde Proving Ground, including linear acceleration tests, braking tests, and vehicle chassis for stable road conditions. Tests and vehicle extreme acceleration tests on high-speed loops. How does this new power combination perform. Especially under rapid acceleration, the engine response will be faster than previous MG models using dual-clutch gearboxes. With these questions, we started the experience of the first subject, linear acceleration. The road conditions in the linear acceleration area of ??Guangde Proving Ground are very professional. The straight-line area is long enough to easily increase speeds up to the state's legal highway limit. In order to better feel the explosive power of the 1.5T high-power engine in the early stage of power, it was tested by ejection starting and the gearbox was tested. You should know that many self-owned brand dual-clutch gearboxes cannot keep up with the combined speed when starting and starting, and the power connection will be half a beat slower. Even in the city, this calibration doesn't make for a comfortable ride. During rapid acceleration, no vibration from the engine is felt in the car. Isolation does a pretty good job in this regard, which directly highlights the feeling that the quality of MG ONE is higher than the price of the product. MG ONE seems to have perfectly solved the serious damage of its own brand at the engine level. The embodiment of this high-end feeling is directly related to the vehicle supplier. The supplier of dynamic suspension systems uses the same sources as Audi, Volvo and Volkswagen MQB. The engine speed of MG ONE can be maintained at 3000rpm for injection. We can't ask an SUV to go that fast, but this result is enough to prove that the CVT transmission can also be adjusted to be very sporty. The mid-range acceleration of the engine is good, the speed increase is very stable and linear, and the CVT gearbox shifts smoothly and heel-to-heeled. In the straight-line acceleration test, I specifically lifted the accelerator pedal completely and then depressed it to simulate the intermediate acceleration scene in a real vehicle environment. The engine power responds promptly, and the acceleration process highlights the word smooth. The response speed of the gearbox is indeed much better than SAIC's previous dual-clutch gearbox logic. In particular, this CVT gearbox is designed with torque converter clutch slip control to avoid the impact caused by sudden torque changes when the accelerator is suddenly stepped on. The ability to re-accelerate after the vehicle speed exceeds 100km/h is not the strength of this engine. At the beginning of the manufacturer's design, taking into account the sports needs of young consumers, MG ONE has a super sports mode, and the mode switch is integrated on the steering wheel. After switching modes, the transmission response is more flexible and the shift speed logic is more aggressive. Along with the simulated engine sound in the car, although it is just a simulated low falsetto, it is indeed a bit exciting to sit in the car. In addition, it must be pointed out that the sound insulation performance of MG ONE is amazing. You know, domestic brand cars are not good at sound insulation. Although the material is said to be very thick, it is difficult to eliminate slight vibrations and noise in the car when accelerating in the 40-60km/h range.
Based on SAIC Group's new platform, the suppliers of MG ONE are naturally different from previous models. The quietness inside the car is completely different from that of a 100,000 yuan SUV. When the vehicle speed is close to 120km/h, the engine noise is a low and thick sound line instead of a thin and noisy sound line. We also conducted braking tests on site and the best result was 35.15 meters. This result has a lot to do with the original matching Continental tires of MG ONE. Continental's Continental tire range has very good grip. The tire width of 225mm ensures a relatively good friction contact area with the ground. The friction coefficient between the original brake discs is very high, and there is almost no virtual foot feel in the initial stage of the brake pedal, which also improves the reaction speed and effect during braking.
