Among the nearly 100 plays that have been staged, there are Cao Yu's famous works "Thunderstorm" and "Peking Man", foreign famous dramas "The Fisherman's House", "African Drums" and "Death Ring"; The nationally popular "Sentinel under the Neon Lights", "Young Generation", "Fire Hearts", "Blooded Cherry Blossoms", the comedy "Seventy-Two Tenants", "So Filial" and the company's creation of "Green Bamboo Village" ", "Battle of the South China Sea", "Red Rose with Thorns", "Borrowed Marriage", etc. are all popular plays with the audience.

The troupe performed more than 300 performances a year in the early stage, with an average attendance rate of more than 70. During its peak period, it was divided into two performance troupes for touring performances.

The troupe once had a group of actors who were loved by the masses, such as Huang Xuewen, Fang Runsheng, Lin Terong, Zhang Jugao, Yang Zhiguang, Wu Jiajian, Chen Wangyuan, Zheng Wanguang, Hong Shouren, Cheng Limin, Zheng Ying, Qiu Peiqi, and later Qi Zhixiu Zhao Shuguang, Fang Lili, Lin Jihua, Cai Aiping. The directors include Yang Zhiguang, Bai Yan, Wang Zhesheng, and Li Tengqi.

Since the late 1980s, due to the overall slump in drama and the very difficult economic situation, the troupe has continued to perform the excellent anti-corruption play "Complex" and the "Energy Conservation" play. "The Electric Flower of Love", he also created and rehearsed a number of high-quality sketches, participated in the Central and South District Drama Sketch Competition, and won many awards.

In the 1990s, with the prosperity of sketches across the country, in order to adapt to the needs of the cultural market, Shantou Repertory Theater, under the leadership of Zhao Shuguang, launched sketch performances, which were successively performed on TV stations and various performance centers The performance produced unprecedented social effects. In a short period of time, the repertory troupe has rehearsed dozens of excellent sketch programs such as "Relocation" and "Interview", and started filming the TV series "Xia Yulai". Xia Yulai is a folk legend in Chaoshan. The drama troupe put it on the stage and made it into a TV series. The VCD disc of the play has been distributed throughout the Chaoshan area and exported to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and other regions. It is well received all over the world. It is loved by fashionable people and has become a famous play of the drama troupe.

Through these plays performed in Chaoshan dialect, Shantou Repertory Theater takes Chaoshan local culture as the main body, reflects the humanities and style of Chaoshan people, and has made an indelible contribution to the promotion of Chaoshan culture.
