Is the Jiangkou earthquake in Lixian County a rumor?

1654 Lixian M8 earthquake occurred in the northeastern margin of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with strong neotectonic activity, located in the north-central part of the north-south seismic belt, with many active faults.

Lixian M8 earthquake occurred in the loess-covered area about 370 years ago. Due to the influence of natural erosion and human activities, it is difficult to distinguish between surface rupture zones and secondary disasters. Therefore, the observation data of seismic network and mobile network since 1970 are collected and sorted out. Based on the seismic tomography method, the seismogenic structure of the Lixian M8.0 earthquake in 1654 was studied by joint inversion calculation. The distribution of small earthquakes along the Liangdang and Liangdang lines suggests the existence of the Minxian-Lixian-Liangdang fault, which may be the seismogenic fault of the Lixian earthquake with M = 8 in 1654, but further research in field geological work is needed.
