I am about to go to Beijing to find a job, but I am not very familiar with the working environment in Beijing.

Beijing Drifting Guide

Beijing is like a huge magnet. With its large diversification of industry types and large employment needs, it attracts more and more heroes from all over the world to seek development. . At the same time, Beijing is also a huge city. It is inevitable that you will feel at a loss when you first arrive. Therefore, I will only share a little bit of my experience of living and working in Beijing, hoping to serve as a reference for friends who are preparing to come to Beijing to work. More experienced people are also welcome to add corrections.

1. Preparation

1. Psychological preparation

When you come to work in Beijing, be mentally prepared to endure hardship. This is not to say, don’t just look at the luxurious life and high income here, you must know that most of the Beipiao have achieved their current income and position through painful hard work and intense work pressure. People who find themselves unable to withstand huge pressure are not suitable for working in Beijing. Of course, those who think they can be trained and transformed are fine.

2. Economic preparation

When you go to Beijing, it is of course possible for you to find a very satisfactory job at once; but it is also possible that you may not be able to find a job even for several months, so unless you are The legendary model can be brought back to life with just one dollar, so it's best to bring enough money. The importance of silver is no longer necessary.

3. Physical preparation

Don’t come to Beijing if you are not in good health, because there are too many irregular schedules, and even staying up late is common, and skipping meals is even more normal.

4. Technical preparation

It doesn’t mean that you can’t go to Beijing without some special skills, but the chances are greater if you have special skills, because there are so many talents going to and staying in Beijing now. Much more. Especially for graduates, it is best to gain enough experience and capital before going. For example, in graphic design, it is not too late to get familiar with it locally before going to Beijing to develop.

2. Life

When you come to Beijing, you need to find a job first, right? But in many cases you have to settle down in life first, and then work will start to come to you. So let’s talk about life first.

1. Looking for a house

It would be best if you can develop with friends, because then you can share a house together. It will save a lot of costs, because in Beijing, housing is one of the most expensive things in your salary.

Beijing is a very large area, and there are differences between regions. Generally speaking, there is no essential difference in the rent of buildings within the second, third, and fourth ring roads. They are all more expensive. Then, those within the third and fourth ring roads are more expensive than those outside. North City is more expensive than South City, and buildings are more expensive than bungalows. In the eight districts of the city, More expensive than suburban counties. The other seven urban areas are more expensive than Shijingshan District, those along the subway are more expensive than those in areas with inconvenient transportation, those with standardized community management are more expensive than those without, and so on. Anyway, the further away and the less developed areas are, the cheaper it is. However, work is often concentrated in economically developed and dense areas, such as CBD, Zhongguancun, Xicheng District, etc. If you want to share a house, you can consider renting a place closer to these central areas. Unless you don't care about renting a house alone in the central area, then just pretend I didn't say anything.

Generally, the following places are more popular for beginners with poor economic conditions: Tongzhou District, Daxing District, Shijingshan District, Xiaoying south of the South Fourth Ring Road, north of Qinghe, and Xisan District Banner, Huoying area and further north, etc. The common characteristics of these areas are: relatively cheap rent, location far from the city, relatively convenient transportation, and a concentration of Beipiao people.

The price has a lot to do with the region: the cheap places mentioned above generally range from 500 to 1,000 yuan for a two-bedroom apartment, depending on the quality and transportation. One bedroom ranges from 300 to 700 or 800 yuan. (For reference only) I know that there are some good bungalows near the South Fourth Ring Road with complete facilities, and they cost only 200 or 300 yuan. In other urban areas, two-bedroom apartments range from 1,000 to 2,000 yuan, and one-bedroom apartments range from 800 to 1,500 yuan. Shijingshan and Tongzhou are favored by many people because they have cheap rent and have subways.

There are many ways to find a house. If you are in the urban area, you can look for rental information posted by individuals on websites such as Soufang. Be careful of intermediaries. It is best to check out the above-mentioned cheap places by yourself and stick small notes in areas with dense buildings. Or find the right tailor (it could be a shop, a shoe repairman, etc. Anyway, just ask someone who knows). If you really can't do it, look for an agent.

If you can't find a house when you first come to Beijing, you can make do with a hotel or a shared student apartment in Haidian District. After you get a job, you can slowly find a house based on the transportation routes of your workplace.

When renting a house, you must read the contract and the landlord’s property ownership certificate, etc., and be careful of being deceived. In addition, many landlords take advantage of your eagerness to rent a house and quote you a price of around 10-20 yuan.

When looking for a house, it is best to have basic living facilities, such as a bed, a bath, cooking, etc. You don’t have so much time to buy them when you first come here.

2. Life

Grocery shopping:

If you are used to cooking by yourself, it is best to be close to a farmer's market or supermarket. But there are many low-quality foods in farmers’ markets, so be careful. The prices are not much different from those in other places, and some are even cheaper.

Telephone:

I have just moved in. If the landlord has a phone, that is fine. Otherwise, it is best not to install a landline to avoid more trouble. Buy a mobile phone card first (required). Mobile phone bills in Beijing are still relatively high and not as cheap as in other places. It is better to use the ones without monthly rent when you first come here, such as China Travel and Ruyi Tong. Use them to dial a 5-digit number before dialing, and the phone bill will be cheaper. But they are all expensive in receiving calls. Not only does PHS charge one-way fees, but the signal is also stronger than before, so you can consider it. Otherwise, the cost of answering phone calls from the recruiting unit every day would be quite high, haha. Please leave your Beijing phone number or mobile phone number with your workplace. If you need to pay for using the landlord's Netcom fixed-line phone, you don't have to go to Netcom. You can just go to any bank branch during the payment period. Most banks will collect the phone bill on their behalf. Suburban counties often pay at the Agricultural Bank of China. (Including savings banks)

Expense calculation:

Telephone calls, meals, rent, transportation expenses, coal and electricity, these are all expensive, so there must be cost control.

3. Transportation

Everyone knows that taxis in Beijing start at 10 yuan. There are also many black cars.

The subway starts at 5 o'clock in the morning and the last train is around 11 o'clock. It costs 3 yuan. If you transfer to the urban rail, it is 5 yuan, and if you transfer to the Batong Line, it is 4 yuan. But the last shift of the latter two is not that late.

For buses, you can take monthly tickets for lines starting with 5 (including 5) and below (such as bus No. 1, bus 50, 106, 202, 355, 425, 501. Note: those starting with 2 are night buses. shuttle bus). You cannot ride on buses starting with 6 or above and those with monthly passes issued by Express Company (such as 603, 719, 850, 919 Express 106, Xiao 1 Road).

The buses run until 24:00 at the latest, and there are also night buses in the latter half of the night. Generally, old lines like 106 in the second ring road are open until 24:00, and other new lines to further places that have been developed over the years have the last train at 11:00 at the latest. Buses to remote residential areas with cheap rents often run out of cars at 10 o'clock, but there are many black cars and black minibuses late at night.

It is best to get a monthly pass when going to Beijing, otherwise your transportation costs will increase greatly. Unless it is a particularly remote place, there are buses that can be reached with a monthly pass in most places. Anyway, it is just reversing back and forth. It is definitely possible to be on the road for 4 hours a day. There are three types of monthly tickets: students, municipal workers and general workers. Not to mention the student tickets, the monthly tickets are 30 for municipal workers and 40 for general workers. The difference is that city workers can only ride on cars starting with 2 or less, while general workers can ride on cars starting with 5 or less. The places where city workers' cars can go are limited, usually only within the third ring road, so it is recommended to go to work through the city. Note that there are many monthly pass sales points in the urban area, but some of them will not be issued to you if you don’t have a Beijing ID card.

I only know that at Dongzhimen you don’t need to see your Beijing ID card, but I don’t know about the others. It will be much easier to exchange for a monthly pass at the end of the month, just queue up at McDonald's. Of course, you will find it painful to squeeze into the bus at first. There are too many people, and you must be careful about thieves. There are many thieves.

3. Looking for a job

When looking for a job, it is best to have convenient transportation to where you live, otherwise you will waste many hours a day on the road. Also know that the traffic jams commuting to and from get off work in Beijing are spectacular. Therefore, many people would rather live in a hotel or student apartment first and find a job before moving. In addition, since you are looking for a job, it is best to stay in Beijing for a while to wait for various interview notifications. It will be inconvenient to go back. You should also be clear about your own procedures such as three insurances and one fund.

1. Several channels for finding jobs:

Recruitment websites:

The main ones are 51job.com, chinahr.com, zhaopin.com, and Beijing Talent Network

Talent Market:

Beijing Talent Market/Beijing Intermediate and Senior Talent Market is outside Andingmen, take the subway to Andingmen and walk north. Yonghegong talent market and talent markets in various districts.

Large-scale job fairs:

Mainly held at the International Exhibition Center, Beijing Exhibition Hall, Agricultural Exhibition Hall, etc. Famous ones include the talent market held in February every year, as well as large-scale job fairs hosted by some intermediary companies, such as the "Autumn Job Fair", "Golden Future", etc. Pay attention to the notices in recruitment newspapers.

Regular job fairs: There are regular job fairs every week in various talent markets and various gymnasiums. Please refer to the recruitment newspaper for details.

Recruitment newspapers:

"Qiancheng", "Beijing Talent Market News", "21st Century Talent News", etc.

In addition, there are other methods such as introductions from friends, self-recommendations, etc., so I won’t go into them one by one.

2. Preparation for finding a job

a. Map: Without it, you lose an arm, haha. Beijing is a big place, and recruitment units are scattered everywhere possible, so without a map... Ordinary maps can also be used. If possible, it is best to buy an atlas in a bookstore. It costs more than 20 pieces and is very, very detailed. This is especially true if your job often takes you outside.

b. Mobile phone

As mentioned above, you must allow the recruiting unit to contact you. No more details.

c. Four major items

Resume, certificates, works, and notepads.

No one should be missing when applying for a job. Notepad is used to write down things that need to be remembered urgently. For example, your supervisor told you to prepare important things, and on the way home from the interview, you suddenly received a new interview notice asking you to write down your address. From personal experience, it is best not to use your cell phone to record what the hiring manager tells you before calling him.

d. Internet cafe

It is inevitable to find a job online. The Internet cafes in Daxing, Tongzhou are very cheap, only 2 yuan. There are several Internet cafes underground in Haidian Book City in the urban area, and they cost 2 yuan. There are generally 3 yuan ones and 4 yuan ones.

e. Floppy disk

With your resume recorded in it, you are ready to go to the copy shop to change and print it as needed.

f. Shaver

Don’t laugh, this is very important for men, remember to buy one.
