Harmful, the main hazards are as follows:

1, respiratory system hazard

Fine glass fibers enter the human lungs through breathing and cannot be absorbed and decomposed. If they are deposited for a long time, the damage to the lungs may form silicosis. Workers exposed to high concentrations of glass fiber may suffer from bronchitis, upper respiratory irritation and asthma.

2, skin hazards

Workers who come into contact with glass fibers generally have contact dermatitis, which is obviously irritating when the fiber diameter exceeds 5 microns.

3. Damage to eye mucosa

Workers exposed to glass fiber may suffer from conjunctivitis and keratitis, and in severe cases, corneal opacity and local swelling can be seen.

Glass fiber is a kind of inorganic nonmetallic material with excellent performance, and there are many kinds. Its advantages are good insulation, strong heat resistance, good corrosion resistance and high mechanical strength, while its disadvantages are brittleness and poor wear resistance. It is made of pyrophyllite, quartz sand, limestone, dolomite, xonotlite and magnesite through high temperature melting, drawing, winding and weaving.
