Baita Village

According to this, this village existed before the fourth year of Taiding in the Yuan Dynasty (1327). The "Zichuan County Chronicle" in the 25th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty and the "Yanshen Town Chronicle" in the 9th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1670) both record the name of the village as "Baitadian". In the 41st year of Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1776), "Zichuan County Chronicle" recorded that the village was named "Baita".

According to Gao Mingbao, a 75-year-old man in the village, before the Ming Dynasty, a man named Bai opened a shop on the beach to the east of the village, hence the name "Baitan Store". Later, due to the collapse of the store, pedestrians called it the "Baixiao Store". Later it evolved into "Baita Store". Later it was also called "White Tower" for short. Xi'a is located two kilometers northwest of Baita, the government residence of Baita Town. It is located in the shadow of Phoenix Mountain, with low-lying terrain. A village committee shall be established. ***175 households, 643 people. There are 747 acres of cultivated land, mainly producing wheat and corn, followed by peanuts and sweet potatoes. A small pond is built in the northwest of the village, with a water capacity of 10,000 cubic meters. The side industries include cement products factory and construction team, with an annual output value of 166,000 yuan.

"The Genealogy of the Hu Family in Banyang" records: "My ancestor was Duke Zhong. Since the second year of Hongwu, he moved from Zaoqiang, Zhili, to Mingshuidian, Ziyi. Changmen's second branch lived in Xi'a." According to this, the Hu family should have settled here during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty (1403-1424).

According to Mu Shaoyan, a 60-year-old villager in the village, because the village is located in the shadow of Phoenix Mountain and the terrain is low, it was named "Phoenix Nest" after the terrain. Because the village is located to the west of the eye of the sea, it was renamed "Xiwo". Because "Wo" and "A" are homophonic, it later evolved into "Xia".
