1September, 926 to1September, 3 to1June, part of the Second and Third Legions of the Northern Expeditionary Army fought fiercely with Beiyang warlord Deng Ruzhuo in Yangtiangang area. The Northern Expeditionary Army defeated first and then won, which dealt a heavy blow to the enemy. In this campaign, the Northern Expeditionary Army killed more than 2,000 people and Xinyu farmers sacrificed more than 200 people.

In recognition of the martyrs' meritorious service,1August, 929, Jiangxi President Zhu Peide allocated funds to build a monument with the inscription "Monument to the Soldiers Killed in the Battle of Xinyu, the Third Army of the National Revolution" with a plastic top and a knife. Xinyu Municipal Government turned Yangtiangang into a martyrs' cemetery to the west, rebuilt the martyrs' monument, martyrs' cemetery and the four museums of Northern Expedition, Red Army, Anti-Japanese War and Liberation, and became a traditional revolutionary education base for young people.
