Wuzhou University is located in Wuzhou City, Guangxi. It is a multi-disciplinary local full-time general undergraduate college jointly established by the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the People's Government of Wuzhou City. It is supported by Guangxi University and selected into the "Data China" "Hundred Schools Project".

Wuzhou College was founded in 1985, formerly known as Guangxi University Wuzhou Branch. In October 2003, the former Wuzhou Education College and the former Wuzhou Normal School were merged into Guangxi University Wuzhou Branch. In February 2006, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Wuzhou College on the basis of Guangxi University Wuzhou Branch.

The school was formerly known as Guangxi University Wuzhou Branch

In January 1985, the Wuzhou University Preparatory Committee was established. In February 1985, the Wuzhou Municipal People's Government signed an agreement with Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen University and entrusted Sun Yat-sen University to hold a political history college class in Wuzhou. In April 1985, Wuzhou City decided to build the school in Bubu, Sanyun Village. In the early stages of preparation, it was to be run under the name of Guangxi University Wuzhou Branch. The one-story building serves as a temporary school building.

On June 22, 1985, the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region agreed to establish the Preparatory Office of Guangxi University of Finance and Economics. On June 24, 1985, the People's Government of the Autonomous Region approved the Guangxi University of Finance and Economics to operate under the name of Guangxi University Wuzhou Branch in the early stages of preparation. In early August 1985, Guangxi University Wuzhou Branch was officially established, with its temporary campus located in Baiheshan City. The school is under the leadership and management of Wuzhou City, and the Autonomous Region Education Department provides professional guidance.

On August 29, 1985, Guangxi University Wuzhou Branch held its first opening ceremony, enrolling the first batch of 40 junior college students majoring in foreign trade. The school has two brands: the Preparatory Office of Guangxi University of Finance and Economics and the Wuzhou Branch of Guangxi University, and one organization carries out its work. In June 1986, the Preparatory Office of Guangxi University of Finance and Economics selected the school site in Guiyi New Village, Wuzhou City, covering an area of ??16 hectares. The first phase of the project officially started in August 1987, with a total construction area of ??192,000 square meters.

In January 1987, the school’s grassroots organization (school party committee) was established. In August, the school recruited a class of industrial enterprise management major. By the end of 1987, the school had 51 teachers and 123 students. In 1988, the school became one of the three pilot institutions for the enrollment reform of colleges and universities in the autonomous region, and enrolled undergraduate students for the first time.
