Introduction of Taigu Station County

Taigu County is a county under the jurisdiction of Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. Located in the middle of Shanxi Province, Jinzhong Basin, it was founded in the Western Han Dynasty with a long history and developed culture and commerce. Together with Qixian and Pingyao, it became a famous hometown of Shanxi merchants. There are many remains of Shanxi merchants' courtyards, represented by Cao Family Courtyard and Kong Xiangxi Courtyard (Kong Xiangxi was born in Taigu). It is the hometown of Bai Juyi, a poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty, and the birthplace of Kong Xiangxi, a modern chaebol. The prestigious royal holy medicines "Guilingji" and "Dingkundan" are produced in Taigu. Taikoo Cake and Hu Ping Jujube are famous all over the country. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China, Taigu rich businessmen gathered and became the financial and commercial center in northern China, known as the "dry dock" and "Little Beijing".
