In the old days, Zhangting was an important town on the water and land channels of Kuaiji and Mingzhou. In the 16th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1279), the Zhangting Inspection Department was established, forming Zhangting and Yuxi market towns. Before the Qing Dynasty, the scale of the market town was small. During the Republic of China, Zhangting was built as a market with a length of 300 meters and a width of 3 meters. The market days were on Tuesday, Friday and August. Yuxi also formed a market with a length of 200 meters and a width of 5 meters. Every Monday , 4th and 7th are market day trading. After liberation, the market town developed rapidly. By the late 1970s, Zhangting had developed into the political, economic, and cultural center, transportation hub, and cargo distribution center of Yaodong region. The "Zhangting Town Master Plan" was compiled for the first time in 1984, and was revised for the fourth time in the spring of 2001, which determined the construction and development ideas of Zhangting Town of "developing northward, extending east-west, and coordinating the development of new and old towns." The planned urban area has been expanded from the original 2.3 square kilometers to 12 square kilometers. Zhangting Town has formed a downtown area intersected by three streets: Xinmin Road, Wayao Road, and Zhangyi Road. In 2002, the town government raised nearly 30 million yuan to build the Zhangting highway-railway, which eliminated the railway transportation bottleneck and expanded the urban development space. Subsequently, nearly 200 million yuan was invested to improve urban infrastructure, implement road hardening, greening, and lighting projects, and continuously improve municipal facilities. At present, Yuxi New Town has built more than 10 main roads such as Changle Road, Kunshan Road, Renmin Road, Renfeng Road, Huimin Road, Zhengtong Road, and Yuxi Road, forming a criss-crossing traffic road network extending in all directions. . At the same time, new landmark buildings such as Yuxi Mall, the new town government building, People's Square, farmers' market, Yuxi Garden, Fengze Meiyuan, and new bus station were built, as well as municipal public facilities such as banks, post offices, telecommunications, shopping malls, supermarkets, and hotels. The public facilities have led to the rapid development of the tertiary industry, and an emerging modern town has begun to take shape. The transportation pattern that used to be dominated by Yaojiang Water Transport and Xiao-Ningbo Railway has undergone major changes. Now every village is connected to main roads, Provincial Highway 61 runs through the town, and a 9-kilometer-long Meixi Yangmei Tourist Highway has been built to connect Cixi. Direct access to Hangzhou Bay Main Line. The town water plant was built in 1984. After several expansions and renovations, the daily water supply capacity has reached 18,000 tons. It has become the township water plant with the largest water supply capacity in Yaodong area, and the tap water penetration rate has reached 100%. There are two 110,000-volt and 500,000-volt substations built in the town respectively, which can fully meet the electricity needs of village residents for daily life and business operations. Since the opening of program-controlled telephones in 1991, telecommunications services such as "Personal Smartphone", wireless phones, and Internet broadband have been successively opened, and the penetration rate of telecommunications to households has reached 100%.
