According to Article 6 of the Measures for the Administration of Taoist Temples of the Chinese Taoist Association:

(2) Those who are patriotic and law-abiding, believe in Taoism, have reached the age of 18, have received certain education, have the consent of their families, are in good health and have a decent style. They must hold the certificate of the local people's government at or above the township level, and with the consent of the Taoist temple management organization, after one to two years of inspection, they will be issued with crowns, regulations and seals, allowing them to live permanently. Those who are not suitable to stay in the palace due to violation of religious rules or other reasons shall take the principle of "all who come are welcome". People who violate the law and discipline and have bad conduct are not allowed to become monks.

(3) the temple accepts disciples. I voluntarily apply for and choose a master's degree, and with the consent of the management organization, I shall handle it according to the requirements in the second paragraph of this article. Those who don't wear scarves are not allowed to take the name of Taoist priests or accept disciples.
