South China Agricultural University, referred to as "Huanong", is located in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. It is a national key university and a national "double-class" construction university. It is a provincial-level university jointly established by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and a high-level university in Guangdong Province.

It has been selected into the national key discipline project, the national high-level university construction graduate program, the first batch of "three-round education" reform pilot universities of the Ministry of Education, the national demonstration universities for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education, and the China Municipal Government scholarship receiving institutions for international students in China.

The school was founded in 1909, Guangdong agricultural experimental field and agricultural workshop. 1952 South China Agricultural College was formed by the merger of the former Agricultural College of Sun Yat-sen University, the Agricultural College of Lingnan University and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Pests and Diseases of the former Agricultural College of Guangxi University, and was under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture. 1984, renamed South China Agricultural University. In 2000, the school was placed under the management of Guangdong Province by the Ministry of Agriculture.

By March 2023, the total area of the school was 826 1 mu, including 4,457 mu of Tianhe Wushan Campus and 3,804 mu of Zengcheng Teaching and Research Base, with a total construction area of 6,543,800+0.4 million square meters. There are 25 colleges (departments) offering 10 1 undergraduate majors.
