Known as "the first troupe in the world", Danyang Repertory Theatre has performed more than 100 plays. In the early days of the founding of the League, the repertoire "Tale of Rice Bran" was arranged and adapted, and participated in the provincial opera viewing and performance conference, and Jiangsu Radio played the recording. The newly edited historical drama The Third Lady has been transplanted to Western, Yue and Kun operas. 1990 The Wedding of Tang Ye, a large-scale modern Dan drama, was selected for the Jiangsu New Drama Exhibition in 1989-90, and won five awards for screenplay, director, music, performance and actor. 1May, 1992, transferred to Nanjing to participate in the commemoration of "5.23" in Jiangsu Province. In the same year, Jiangsu Province was selected by the Ministry of Culture to participate in the "World's First Excellent Drama Exhibition" held in Quanzhou, Fujian, and won the drama award and actor award. Dan Troupe was awarded the title of "The First Troupe in the World" by the Ministry of Culture. In recent years, Danyang has carried out market-oriented reform of literary and art groups. Danyang Theatre Company was established, and the original Dan Theatre Company and Tin Theatre Company were merged into one. The troupe currently has 35 actors. After the restructuring, the troupe quickly recovered its vitality after experiencing the downturn of the cultural market and the trough of internal and external troubles in its operation. Especially since last year, in the activity of "building a new countryside and connecting every village with culture" in Danyang City, the city drama troupe rehearsed the large-scale costume drama "Uncle and Sister-in-law", achieving 143 performances in the countryside, which prospered the urban and rural performing arts market and realized the performance income of more than 250,000 yuan that year. Since the beginning of this year, the troupe has invested a lot of financial, material and human resources to overcome many difficulties in a short time, rehearsed a costume tin drama "Confessions of Sargam" and directed a large-scale children's musical sitcom "Come Back, Children". The two plays toured more than 90 performances in rural areas and primary and secondary schools in the city, and were well received. It is expected that this year's performance income and employee income will increase greatly compared with last year.

At present, there are still three major difficulties in the troupe: First, the government's financial input is seriously insufficient, and the annual municipal budget is only 600,000, which has remained unchanged for many years. The troupe will continue to pay its debts for 10 years, with an annual budget of 200,000. Second, the cast is seriously aging and its vitality is not strong. Because of the low salary, it is difficult to recruit and introduce young professionals, which directly affects the faster and better development of the troupe. Third, the development prospect of Dan Opera is worrying. Although Dan Opera has been included in Zhenjiang intangible cultural heritage, there is no further preferential support policy. The Institute of Danxi exists in name only, and there is no place for Danxi actors to be trained, and there are few successors. With the constant concern and strong support from all levels, and with our own continuous efforts, Danyang Drama Troupe will surely get better and better, and this unique drama will surely be passed down.
