Kunming Command School is located in Xiaoshiba Village in the eastern suburbs of Kunming City. It was established on July 13, 1991 with the approval of the Ministry of Public Security. In the early days of the school's establishment, the school mainly recruited technical secondary school students for the fire brigades of 11 provinces and cities in the west. In order to meet the needs of military construction, according to the enrollment plan of the Political Department of the Ministry of Public Security, the school began to recruit students for the national firefighting force in 2000, and began to recruit junior college students majoring in firefighting. Command in 2002, it is currently the only school in my country that recruits students from the National Fire Brigade and specializes in training high-level fire command cadres.

Teacher Construction

Since 2009, 39 doctoral and master’s students have been recruited from colleges and universities to enrich the teaching team. It has hired 38 visiting professors from local universities, military colleges, scientific research institutions, troops stationed in Yunnan and other units. Since 2010, frontline commanders from grassroots firefighting forces across the country have been selected to teach in schools every year.

According to the needs of the construction and development of the fire brigade, the school will offer majors such as fire command, emergency rescue, fire prevention management, military political work, and military logistics management. In the future, according to the "five-year "Overall Planning" to gradually build the school into a high-level fire protection college focusing on fire command and coordinated development of multiple majors.
