What is the reason for the fracture of trenchless drill pipe shaft?

Main causes of trenchless drill pipe fracture:

1) The torque of the drilling rig exceeds the torque borne by the inclination angle of the drill pipe.

According to table 1, configure the drilling rig with appropriate drill pipes.

2) The radius of curvature of the construction hole exceeds the minimum radius of curvature of the drill pipe.

According to the parameters in table 1, control the minimum curvature radius of the construction hole.

3) When reaming (especially enlarging a hole) or drilling a long-distance pilot hole, the drill bit suddenly hits a hard object, resulting in a strong impact. The torque suddenly increases, causing the drill pipe to break or twist off.

Operators should reasonably control the speed and propulsion when operating the drilling rig to avoid this situation.

4) The material and thickness of the drill pipe body do not meet the requirements of technical specifications.

5) The surface of the drill pipe body is seriously scratched (exceeding the depth of 1mm, showing a spiral shape).

Avoid using drill pipes with scars.

6) The service time of drill pipe is too long, and the surface damage is more, which approaches or exceeds the fatigue life.

Replace the new drill pipe in time.
