Universities jointly established by provinces and departments refer to universities jointly established by relevant ministries and commissions of the State Council (Ministry of Education and other national ministries and commissions) and relevant provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government and autonomous regions. Lanzhou University of Technology is the only university in Gansu Province with three military certificates. It is a research and production unit of weapons and equipment in People's Republic of China (PRC) (PRC). It is jointly established by the Gansu Provincial People's Government and the National Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China. The school has two disciplines with national defense characteristics: ship power, control theory and control engineering.

There are six key universities jointly established by Gansu Province and the Ministry of Education, namely:

(1) Northwest Normal University (Gansu Provincial People's Government+Ministry of Education), school time: 1902.
