Characteristics of Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital for Nationalities in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture

The hospital insists on developing traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine, with outstanding professional characteristics. The treatment of chronic colitis with Tujia medicine was the first batch of national key medical special disease construction projects in state administration of traditional chinese medicine in 20001year, and passed the evaluation and acceptance in April 2006. "Tujia Medicine Spleen and Stomach Diseases Specialty" and "Tujia Medicine Liver Diseases Specialty" are the national key specialty construction projects in the 11th Five-Year Plan. Emergency department is the first batch of key construction units of TCM emergency department in Hunan Province. Acupuncture and Massage Department is a key specialty construction project in Hunan Province, and orthopedics is a national key specialty in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture.

The hospital has achieved good results in the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, nephropathy, diabetes, rheumatism, rheumatoid, gout, stomach diseases, anorectal diseases, spinal diseases and cerebral palsy in children with integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine. Chronic nonspecific colitis was treated with ethnic medicine and its preparation "Guilong Pill", and severe hepatitis was treated with "Shuitao Shiwei Decoction". Acupuncture, massage, physical therapy and other methods are used to treat neck, shoulder, waist and leg pain, and the effect is remarkable. Cardiovascular medicine department adopts "Shi's stroke unit therapy", "carotid artery perfusion therapy" and integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine to treat stroke hemiplegia and its sequelae, and has achieved remarkable results.

In 2007, the hospital was identified by state administration of traditional chinese medicine as the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" national key hospital of traditional Chinese medicine.
