Which industries belong to heavy chemical industry?

Heavy chemical industry generally refers to the production of means of production, including energy, machinery manufacturing, electronics, chemistry, metallurgy and building materials industries.

① Coal industry. For a considerable period of time, the layout of China's coal bases was mainly based on the construction of coking coal bases, and a number of coal bases for electric power, chemical industry and urban residents were built.

② Petroleum industry. At present, the main oil-producing areas in China are Songliao and Huabei basins in the east and Tarim, Qaidam and Junggar basins in the west.

③ Power industry. The development policy of China electric power industry is to develop hydropower as much as possible, speed up the construction of hydropower stations in mining areas, moderately develop nuclear power plants, vigorously develop power grids, and at the same time develop small hydropower and thermal power plants to utilize wind energy in off-grid areas.

④ Sulfuric acid industry. In the composition of sulfuric acid raw materials in China, pyrite accounts for 73%, smelting flue gas accounts for 1 1%, and sulfur accounts for 16%. Guangdong Yunfu pyrite mine, the largest in China, started mining on 1983. Sulfuric acid industry is mainly distributed in Nanjing, Shanghai, Dalian, Baiyin, Zhuzhou, Tongling and Huludao.

⑤ Alkali industry. The soda ash industry mainly includes five large soda plants in Dalian, Tianjin, Qingdao, Zigong and Yingcheng, and more than 20 small and medium-sized plants in Longshan, Hangzhou, Lengshuijiang, Hunan and Pudong, Shanghai.

⑥ Fertilizer industry. Before 1970s, most nitrogenous fertilizer plants in China used coal as raw material, such as anthracite in Nanjing, Quzhou and Shijiazhuang, coke and heavy oil in Dalian and Jilin, lignite and heavy oil in Lanzhou. Most of the newly-built large-scale nitrogenous fertilizer plants are combined with petroleum resources, such as Zhangdian in Zibo, Walitun in Daqing, Liaohe, Cangzhou, Nanjing, Anqing, Zhijiang, Dongting and Guangzhou, etc., which use oil and gas to produce nitrogenous fertilizer.

④ Petrochemical industry. Petrochemical centers in China are all built in consumer areas, including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Yueyang and Liaoyang. Among them, Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Company has the largest scale, Shanghai Petrochemical General Factory has the best economic benefits, and Daqing, Jilin, Qilu and Tianjin are all built near oil fields.

⑦ Metallurgical industry is dominated by steel and nonferrous metal smelting.

Nowadays, the building materials industry mainly produces cement and flat glass.
