Hubei Ezhou Huahu Economic and Technological Development Zone was established on10.9 and 1997, and was approved by the Provincial Development Zone Management Office in July 2000. The Development Zone is located in the east of Ezhou, east to Huangshi Avenue, west to Mahua Lake, south to Hurong expressway (expressway section of Huang Wu) and north to Huahu Port. The planned area is 990 hectares. In 2004, the reserved area was 398 hectares. By the end of 2004, both developed and built areas were 206 hectares, and the developed area accounted for 20.8% of the planned area.

Hubei Ezhou Huahu Economic Development Zone is located in the easternmost part of Ezhou, at the junction of Hu Rong expressway and Daguang expressway (from Daqing to Guangzhou). It is the bridgehead area of Huangshi Yangtze River Bridge, south of Huangshi Yingbin Avenue, and connected with Huangshi urban area. It is the east wing of Ezhou "one body and two wings" economic development zone, the center of Wuhan, Ezhou and Huangshi, and the core of Wuhan's one-hour economic circle. It is 20km away from Ezhou City, 50m away from Huang Wu expressway Exit, 5km away from Huangshi Yangtze River Bridge 1 km, 5km away from Huangshi Foreign Trade Wharf, 70km away from Wuhan Tianhe Airport, 5km away from Wujiu Railway and 30km away from Beijing-Kowloon Railway, and it passes by the second bridge of Huangshi Yangtze River which will be built soon.
