Why does Wuhan recruit a large number of auxiliary police?

As of July 4, 2022, according to the needs of work, Wuhan Public Security Bureau plans to recruit 438 auxiliary police officers for the society to prepare for epidemic prevention and control, mainly engaged in public security patrol, prison co-management, indwelling care, traffic order maintenance and so on. Wuhan is located in the east of Jianghan Plain and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The Yangtze River and its largest tributary, the Han River, meet in the city, forming a pattern of three towns in Wuhan separated by a river. Rivers, lakes and ports crisscross the city, and the water area accounts for a quarter of the city's total area.
